Subject Areas Covered
The major subject areas that JH Associates have covered are:
Trust and Group Dynamics
A cohesive team based on mutual trust is vital to the success of any theatrical or business project.
All our sessions are based on our belief that:
“Joe and James are excellent trainers. Their patience and consideration gives you the confidence to "have a go"; to trust that there is no such thing as ‘can't’.”
Alison Scott, Worthing High School
- Trust is best built in ordinary, easily achievable steps which culminate in the extraordinary, not by throwing participants in at the deep end to sink or swim.
- For team success EVERYONE must participate in EVERYTHING.
- Trust is EARNED by SHARING challenges; recognising, demonstrating and experiencing the SUPPORT of peers.
- Effective Team Leaders EARN THEIR MANDATE to lead.
- Lack of trust leads to bad communication, bad management and a failure to focus on the real challenges of work.
- Trust among colleagues is vital across every level of staffing for a truly dynamic company.
Our sessions range from simple ice breaking exercises and games for the most timid and inexperienced to extreme physical and mental challenges which are guaranteed to weld your team together.
We can therefore work with teams who have only just met or those which have been working together for years but who need reinvigorating or preparing for a special challenge.
These sessions can be particularly useful when a company is undergoing major change such as relocation or restructuring.
Creativity and Imagination Programmes
These have become the core of the work I do for companies as they utilize the special skills I can bring from the theatre world to the business environment. They tend to be long term projects (six months and upward) developing a new approach to problem solving techniques in the workplace.
Transformational Leadership Workshops
Using notably effective leadership speeches from history and drama as the basis for an exploration of what real leadership means, these sessions develop an awareness of the process for achieving dynamic team leadership.
Use of Language
Language is the bed rock of communication. Good communication is the bed rock of all efficient business practice from management to marketing. Theatre practitioners are the greatest experts at the use of language to communicate messages and stories to an audience.
We have created bespoke schemes for various companies and individuals to help them enhance their understanding and use of language in a range of arenas from presentations to product naming.
Presentation and Skills Seminars
Although we prefer not to offer one off seminars like this – we would rather these skills grew out of your work with us on a broader scheme – we can provide brush up sessions to help prepare for important events.
Presentation Writing and Forum Theatre
Joe has a wealth of experience writing for the corporate world. He have written speeches for conferences, scripted sales presentations and created dramas to convey important core messages at annual conferences and sales events.
In March 2003 he was commissioned to create a musical comedy drama as the centre piece of the annual Birds Eye Walls Better Sold conference. ‘Chiller – an Adventure in Frozen Food’ was a sitcom set in a supermarket which culminated in a battle between the evil un-dead ready chiller meals and the goddess-like Buffet the Samphire Slayer who rose out of a chest freezer and sang a pastiche of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. The half hour piece encapsulated all the core messages of the conference in an entertaining, and therefore memorable way to the 500 delegates and was a perfect demonstration of the power of bringing theatre into the conference arena.
